I refused the AFP test. Even if there's something wrong, I'm not an abortion and amniocentesis itself has a risk of miscarriage. All you can do is a doctor present in the delivery room at birth .....( if there is a positive outcome, because nothing can be done) are inutero. I think it is unnecessary concern, as the rate of false positives is very high too. I do not recommend screening when an older mother, or was an important reason for an increased risk of congenital malformations.
